Many weren't fortunate enough to catch the world premiere of FOX Batman prequel 'Gotham' at Comic-Con 2014, and the September 22 debut feels criminally far away. Well, good news! FOX has made available a new 20-minute behind-the-scenes preview with plenty of fresh footage and insight from cast and crew on the making of the moody new 'Gotham.'

Covering everything from characters to construction, FOX's new 20-minute 'Gotham' preview actually goes a long way toward allaying fears of world where any actual Batman remains years off. At the very least, our new look at the series offers a few scraps of footage beyond the September 22 premiere, and delves deep into the psychology behind some of DC's most famous 'Gotham' villains.

Most recently bolstering its Bat-ranks with 'Dexter' star David Zayas as Sal Maroni, the new series will explore “the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and the villains that made Gotham famous,” with its pilot focusing on Gordon’s investigation of the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne. The pilot was written and executive produced by Bruno Heller (‘The Mentalist’), along with Warner Bros. Television, and directed by ‘Judge Dredd’ helmer Danny Cannon.

FOX's 'Gotham' also stars Robin Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Donal Logue as Gordon’s partner Detective Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma, Victoria Cartagena and Andrew Stewart-Jones as Renee Montoya and Crispus Allen, ‘Burn Notice‘ star Zabryna Guevara as Gordon’s GCPD boss Captain Essen, and Erin Richards as Gordon’s fiancée Barbara Kean.

We'll have a review of FOx's 'Gotham' in the next week, but in the meantime, what do you think? Do the behind-the-scenes sneak peeks sell you on on the pre-Bat drama? Watch the clips, and tell us what you want to see when FOX's 'Gotham' premieres for real on September 22!
