‘Game of Thrones’ Season 5 Casts Flashback Cersei, So That’s Happening
‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 may not have conjured any actual trailer to accompany its maddening “sight” teasers just yet, but its latest addition to the cast is definitely a human person in a fictional role. Following earlier revelations that the HBO fantasy-drama would dip into the past for its first-ever flashback, we now know that a young Cersei Lannister will indeed be played by a young female actress of Cersei-like appearance, and not a stalk of corn, notable scientist, or ‘Game of Thrones’ star Charles Dance.
As first discovered on IMDb, and subsequently confirmed by an agency resume, young Nell Williams will appear in at least one ‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 flashback as the young Cersei Lannister. Though admittedly odd that the IMDb listing paints Williams as appearing in three season 6 episodes, past news of Charles Dance’s return as Tywin Lannister and literary characters pertaining to Cersei’s youth seemingly confirm the flashback to focus on the littlest lady Lannister.
While we wait for ‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 (already renewed for 6, with the cast signed through 7), we know of other returning, confirmed absent, and new characters cast, including those that confirm we’ll be visiting the oft-mentioned kingdom of Dorne, for which Spain will double. As expected, the story will draw heavily from George R.R. Martin’s fourth and fifth novels, ‘A Feast for Crows’ and ‘A Dance with Dragons,’ while HBO has also provided a list of directors, as well as insight into which literary stories may not make the transition to film.
We’ll likely see our first sneak peek and photos sometime this month, with a preview featurette to follow in February, but what say you? Does ‘Game of Thrones’ season 5's latest breaking cast addition have you primed for li’l Cersei? Who else might get in on the flashback fun?
