Despite its many Emmy and Golden Globe wins, we've known for sometime that 'Homeland' season 3 would naturally feel very different from its two predecessors, having mostly wrapped up the threat of Abu Nazir, and temporarily stuck a pin in the character of Nicholas Brody. Now, with Carrie Matheson likely to face a new threat in the Showtime series' third season, which supporting characters and regulars will be putting in reduced appearances this fall? Is Diego "Uncle Mike" Klattenhoff the first casualty of 'Homeland' season 3?

Nicholas Brody's family and honorary uncle/cuckolder Major Mike Faber may have survived the events of 'Homeland' season 2 finale "The Choice," but don't expect the characters to appear as prevalently when Showtime unveils a third season of 'Homeland' this fall. In particular, TVLine has learned that Diego Klattenhoff (Mike) will no longer act as a series regular going forward, though the actor could still make occasional appearances on the series.

On the contrary, Morena Baccarin is expected to reprise her series regular role as Jessica Brody, in spite of her husband's wrongly-accused absence. 'Homeland' producer Howard Gordon earlier confirmed that Damian Lewis (Brody) would also return despite his character's predicament, stating at the TCA press tour "He’s alive so of course he’ll be back. One of the great challenges of next [season] is how he’ll be back. But there’s no doubt that he will be back.”

Well, what say you? Are you disappointed Diego Klattenhoff's Mike won't have a regular presence in 'Homeland' season 3? What do you hope to see when Showtime premieres the new season this fall?
