Now that 2013 is officially upon us, FX will soon quick-draw its fourth season of gunslinger drama 'Justified,' set to premiere on Tuesday, January 8. But before Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) gets us all involved in some serious gunplay, what can we expect from the new season? Series creator and Graham opens up on the new mystery that drives 'Justified' season 4, what characters we will and won't see, and when we might see the series' end. Spoilers await inside!

With Mags Bennett and Robert Quarles no longer posing a threat to Harlan County, who will Raylan Givens next face? That's the question posed to series creator and show-runner Graham Yost, who opened up to TVGuide to explain the new case of 'Justified' season 4 that reaches into the past, and drives the season.

We're doing a couple different things this season. One is that we open with a flashback to what happened 30 years ago, loosely based on something that did happen around that time, called The Bluegrass Conspiracy. What we decided to do this season was have more of a mystery and, in a sense, a big fugitive pursuit. They don't know who he is, so there's that mystery to solve, and then it'll go on from there.

That mystery will drive Raylan to interact with the mysterious "Hill People," which has an unexpected connection to the Harlan people the U.S. Marshal will come to explore. That group, as well as newcomers like Patton Oswalt's Constable Bob and Boyd Crowder's new buddy Colton Rhodes (Ron Eldard) may steal a bit of focus however from fan-favorite characters like Dewey Crowe (Damon Herriman) and Dickie Bennett (Jeremy Davies), whom Yost claims at present have no role in the new season. Wynn Duffy (Jere Burns) will take center stage for the current run, while Dewey will likely have a later role should 'Justified' make it through its intended six seasons.

What say you? Which of 'Justified' season 4's new players are you most excited to meet? Would you want to see the series end after six seasons? Check out the latest trailer for 'Justified' season 4 below, returning January 8, and sound off in the comments!
