It's official! Late Thursday night or no, ABC cranked out more than a few blockbuster announcements, as Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' has officially been renewed for season 2, while fellow Marvel icon 'Agent Carter' landed her own original series with Hayley Atwell for the coming year. Celebrate the good news with the first official 'Agent Carter' TV series description right now!

We previously heard that both an 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 2 announcement and 'Agent Carter' might arrive together, though both announcements came only minutes after ABC declared most of its current slate renewed with several original pilots and cancellations to follow. In particular, this is the first we've seen of an official description for 'Agent Carter,' which reads thusly:

'Marvel’s Agent Carter,' starring 'Captain America’'s Hayley Atwell, follows the story of Peggy Carter. It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers.

Inspired by the feature films 'Captain America: The First Avenger' and 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier,' along with the short 'Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.' 'Marvel’s Agent Carter' stars Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter. Executive producers are Michele Fazekas & Tara Butters, Steve McFeely & Christopher Marcus, and Jeph Loeb.

No word yet on the exact episode number or scheduling, but what say you? Are you glad to see 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.''s season 2 renewal ushering in a green light for Marvel's 'Agent Carter'? How would you like to see ABC handle either series next fall?
