Considering how many eyes are going to be on NBC's upcoming adaptation of 'Hannibal,' an updated prequel take on the classic Thomas Harris Hannibal Lecter novels, it's surprising to think that we haven't seen very much in the way of footage, or even photos from production. We've seen a set photo or two, and even gotten plenty out of casting, but what bout the man himself? Does the first poster for 'Hannibal' reveal the good doctor, or keep us in the dark?

While we patiently await the arrival of mid-season for a look at how NBC and Bryan Fuller manage to pull off a TV adaptation of iconic serial killer Hannibal Lecter, SpoilerTV managed to obtain a first look at promotional artwork for the upcoming series 'Hannibal.' Details from the poster are particularly light, using headshots of the actors themselves rather than portraits in character, but the bloody artwork and doctor motif are fun nonetheless.

To date, ‘Hannibal’ features 'Pushing Daisies' vet Ellen Greene, 'Wonderfalls' stars Chelan Simmons and Lara Jean Chorostecki as a female interpretation of ‘Red Dragon’ character Freddy Lounds, and Laurence Fishburne as Jack Crawford. Set in the early days of Will Graham and Lecter’s partnership, Fuller’s envisioned series is “a love story” told across at least seven seasons. He has also specified the likelihood that the third or so season would cover the story of Thomas Harris’ novel ‘Red Dragon.’

Take a look at the new poster below, and tell us if you're interest is piqued for a real shot of 'Hannibal' in the comments!
