'Star Wars Rebels' LEGO Sets Reveal New Looks at the Millenium Falcon-esque "Ghost"Kevin Fitzpatrick |
The other day 'Star Wars Rebels' lifted the veil just high enough to introduce us to the "Ghost" crew's feisty R2 unit "Chopper," but as tends to be the case with major blockbusters, now LEGO has delivered a much more revealing look at the new series with fresh images of the group's Millennium Falcon-like ship, and more!
As seen from photos of the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2014 (Via Atamaii.TV), our new look at the Ghost ship proves much more detailed than the initial concept art, though LEGO wisely kept most of the character figures identities hidden, even as we get a rough look at their roles and races of origin. Perhaps most intriguingly of all, another new LEGO ship reveals a mysterious "Phantom," its pilot clad in a beat-up Imperial helmet, and going by the name "Ezra Bridger."
Here’s everything we know from the official ‘Star Wars Rebels’ logline:
‘Star Wars Rebels’ continues the epic tradition of the legendary ‘Star Wars’ saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people.
But there are a select few who are brave enough to stand up against the endless Stormtroopers and TIE fighters of the Empire: the clever and motley crew of the starship “Ghost.” Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, have thrilling adventures, and become heroes.
We’ve already seen a few glimpses of the villainous Jedi-hunting "Inquisitor," but no voice cast has been made official. That said, we previously heard Freddie Prinze Jr., ‘The Butler’ star David Oyelowo, Vanessa Marshall, Taylor Gray and Steven Jay Blum were at least on the short list. Picking up where the now-canceled ‘Clone Wars‘ left off, ‘Star Wars Rebels’ will also feature on the creative side screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg (‘X-Men: First Class,’ ‘Elysium‘), who’s writing the first episode.
We'll learn much more of 'Star Wars Rebels' as we near its 2014 premiere, but in the meantime, check out new images of the LEGO ships in action, and tell us what you want to see when 'Star Wars' debuts its first animated series set in between the two trilogies!
