It’s comic legend Jack Kirby’s 100th birthday today, and the whole Marvel world is celebrating. While on set filming the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp, Evangeline Lilly, who plays Hope van Dyne a.k.a. the Wasp, posted an extremely cool photo of herself all dressed up in her Wasp suit, and she looks awesome.
It looks like Ant Man and the Wasp will be getting the whole Ant Man family back together again, as pretty much everyone from the original cast is confirmed to return for the sequel. Today brings the good news that the hilarious Judy Greer, who played Ant Man a.k.a. Scott Lang’s ex-wife, will be back for the second go-round.
After a few months of radio silence from Marvel on the Ant-Man and the Wasp front, the last two weeks have seen a flurry of activity. First there was the announcement that Randall Park would be joining the cast as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, then the news that Walton Goggins had signed on for a yet-unknown - but probably evil - part in the movie. All of that was blown away this past weekend with the news that Michelle Pfeiffer and Laurence Fishburne would be joining the cast as contemporaries of Michael Douglas‘ Hank Pym. Man, these Marvel casts just keep getting better and better.
Walton Goggins has officially joined the MCU. What a time to be alive. The character actor and star of Vice Principals, The Hateful Eight and the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot has signed on for Ant-Man and the Wasp, the upcoming sequel featuring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as the eponymous superheroes. Goggins is the third recent addition to the cast, joining fellow newcomers Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat) and Hannah John-Kamen (Black Mirror) for Ant-Man’s next big (semi) solo adventure.
One of the coolest parts of Marvel’s Ant-Man was the final tease of a superheroic future for Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne as the Wasp. It was also one of the more frustrating parts of Ant-Man, since we waited the whole movie to see Hope cut loose only to see her costumed alter ego put on hold until a potential sequel. Now the sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, is less than a year away, and Hope’s moment in the sun is finally almost here.
Another Friday, another late-breaking piece of casting news from the wonderful world of Disney — more specifically, the MCU. Following last month’s addition of Black Mirror star Hannah John-Kamen, Ant-Man and the Wasp is adding another great name to its roster: Fresh Off the Boat star and regular Veep guest Randall Park is the latest actor to join Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly in Marvel’s super-sequel.
