The first trailer for the Coen brothers’ ‘Hail, Caesar!’ was so fantastic that most of us already put it on our Best Movies of 2016 list. Dare I say the second trailer for the old Hollywood comedy is just as brilliant, if not better? Or perhaps the best trailer of 2016, or maybe, like, ever? Would that it were so simple...

With the increase in superhero films in recent years, you can practically measure time by each new comic book blockbuster — a superhero film (or two…or three…) for every season. But amid all of 2016's exciting super-offerings, let’s not forget a few of those other highly-anticipated, non-superhero movies, like the Coen brothers’ Hail, Caesar, the pair’s first new film since Inside Llewyn Davis…which already feels like a lifetime ago. Insert somber guitar strum.

The Coen Brothers’ screenplay for Suburbicon has been in various levels of gestation for a little over a decade now, with George Clooney first voicing his interest in directing the project 10 years ago. Clooney’s had a great track record with the Coens, and if there were anyone whose last name isn’t Coen cut out to direct one of their screenplays, it’s most definitely Clooney, who is once again circling the project.

It’s a rare occurrence when one writer takes another’s story and adapts it into an entirely new creature of its own, outside of imitation or homage. It’s even more rare when that writer reinvents his adaptation yet again for a second installment. Noah Hawley did that last year with Joel and Ethan Coen’s 1996 dark comedy Fargo, easily one of 2014's best TV series. Now Hawley’s doing it all over again, adopting the anthology format for a second season of FX’s Fargo, taking the seeds from the Coen brothers’ classic and planting them in another original, bizarre field. But even the creative brilliance of sowing something new can lead to watching a very slow, tepid growth.

Can I buy tickets to Hail, Caesar! yet? Can I preorder the Blu-ray? Too early to add it to my top ten list of the year?

With Bridge of Spies, Steven Spielberg continues the project he started with Lincoln: Using history to illuminate his vision of modern American values. But where Lincoln was about a “great man,” Bridge of Spies is about an ordinary one — an insurance lawyer from Brooklyn named James B. Donovan. In the late 1950s, Donovan was chosen by his peers to represent a captured Soviet spy, Rudolf Abel. But while most of Donovan’s colleagues (and even the presiding judge on the case) want him involved purely to give Abel’s trial the appearance of due process, Donovan actually mounts a rigorous defense of his client, at considerable risk to his reputation and even his personal safety.

Joel and Ethan Coen are currently in post-production on Hail, Caesar!, their 1950s Hollywood film that hits theaters early next year. In the meantime, the writing and directing duo are already looking ahead to their next project, which once again sees them entering the bleak world of crime.

A new film from filmmaking brothers Joel and Ethan Coen is always highly-anticipated, but it turns out we're just going to have to wait a little longer for their latest effort. The star-studded 'Hail, Caesar!' which reunites the directors with George Clooney and Tilda Swinton, has been officially given a 2016 release date, and we have a feeling this one will be well-worth the wait.

Earlier today brought the expected, if somewhat disheartening news that FX would indeed move forward with 'Fargo' season 2 in 2015, albeit with an all-new story and cast. Now, 'Fargo' producer Noah Hawley has generously stepped up to reveal a major character connection to the first season, as well as the new 1979 time period, and what other Coen brothers films we can expect as influences!

The cast for the Coen Brothers' newest film just keeps getting more and more outstanding, and if they keep this up, we're not sure that 'Hail, Caesar!' is a film big enough to contain so much amazing talent. Today brings word that Scarlett Johansson and Jonah Hill are the latest actors to join the lineup.
