Seemingly through with shouting into the mist, ‘The Walking Dead’ season 5's 2015 return scrounged up fresh footage by the latest trailer of its February 8 premiere, but the newest photos of the as-yet-untitled installment move right back to mystery. Find out what’s got Rick and Michonne so serious in our first photos of ‘The Walking Dead’'s 2015 premiere!

‘The Walking Dead’'s February 8 return may not have an official title as of yet, but things are looking pretty intense by its first two photographs. One sees Danai Gurira’s Michonne proving definitively that Michonne has indeed continued to possess a human face, while Rick’s appears to have been slowly devoured by a greying, beard-like substance of unknown origin or consistency.

That said, so reads the latest synopsis for season 5's back half:

After the tragic events of the mid-season finale–as well as losing the possibility of a cure in Washington, DC–Rick Grimes’ band of survivors find themselves on the road, surviving day to day and trying to hold on to their shredded humanity and dwindling hope.

Stripped of security and without a direction for the future, some of the group near their breaking point, some find themselves hardened and cold and some just try to grasp on to what little they have left.

Though they are still breathing, the line between Rick’s group and the dead is starting to blur.

Could there be anything at this point that brings them back to life?

Showrunner Scott Gimple previously teased that the group will undergo a “huge change” in situation, both visually and story-wise, which would seem to resemble a famous comic location emerging around this time. In addition to Ross Marquand’s casting as a new mystery man, we’ve also yet to meet ‘American Horror Story’ star Alexandra Breckinridge’s character, who has been said to recur.
