‘The Walking Dead’ Season 4 Photos: Carl Grows Up, Daryl Loves Ponchos
The biggest 'Walking Dead' season 4 scoops will come from the Friday panel at Comic-Con 2013, but already a number of new photos have cropped up from the new episodes debuting this fall. First we saw the premiere look at Lawrence Gilliard Jr.'s new series regular Bob Stookey, while the latest photos have the main cast looking even older and dirtier!
The latest photos from 'The Walking Dead' season 4 come from Entertainment Weekly's cover shoot, wherein young Carl (Chandler Riggs) isn't looking so young anymore, a problem that similarly befell 'Game of Thrones' young Bran Stark this past season. Meanwhile, Rick continues to rock the python, and the return of Daryl's poncho manages to outshine his other fashionable season 4 accessories.
For as much older as Carl seems to look, series creator Robert Kirkman recently previewed to The Hollywood Reporter that Carl's relationship with Rick would take center stage in the coming season, particularly after Carl's horrific actions in gunning down a Woodbury soldier in cold blood.
That's something that has become huge part of Carl's character -- that event and the fact that he did that. It's something that Rick has been somewhat terrified by; the fact that his son went to that place and is growing into that person. That's informing both Rick and Carl's actions as they move into this season.
There are more people around, there are people from Woodbury that are now living there and Carl is having to deal with this. His behavior is being guided by Rick and his role as father to him. There's some interesting stuff coming up with Carl that I can't reveal right now, but there's good stuff ahead.
While we wait for the first season 4 trailer from Comic-Con 2013, the next run of ‘The Walking Dead’ will upgrade actors Chad Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green and Emily Kinney to series regulars, while AMC earlier confirmed that David Morrissey’s villainous Governor would also return in season 4 as a series regular.
