We weren't altogether surprise to find 'The Walking Dead' adding three of its newest and most memorable characters to series regular rank with season 5, though it seems the AMC horror-drama has a more unexpected casting on its hands. 'The Wire''s Seth Gilliam has joined former co-stars Chad Coleman and Lawrence Gilliard Jr. for season 5 as a new series regular, but might he be concealing another comic character?

Via Deadline, Gilliam's character has been identified as Michael Todd, a character described as having two sides, displaying a friendly, puckish humor but also having a haunted side stemming from a dark secret. Deadline notes that the name might prove a cover for a character from the original Robert Kirkman comic books, much as we saw done with Abraham, Rosita and Eugene.

We have a theory of our own, and just a theory mind you, but we wouldn't be surprised if Gilliam's character turned out to be the AMC incarnation of Father Gabriel Stokes, who popped up in the comics at a similar point to the show's current standing, and whose character would nicely fit the casting description. We never saw quite who attended to the funeral home that Daryl and Beth holed up in during the events of "Alone," or who drove the car that seemingly kidnapped Beth, though we couldn't help noting the crucifix in its back windshield. Of course, AMC's 'Walking Dead' remixes and reuses characters now and again, so Michael Todd may turn out to be nothing more than than that, and it remains to be seen which characters will encounter him first.

Well, what do you think? How long will it take Rick and the others to make it outside of Terminus, and where might they find Michael Todd? Could Gilliam's character be one of the nefarious villains that put them in the boxcar in the first place? Let us know what you think, and give us your predictions for 'The Walking Dead' season 5 in the comments!
