Syfy Sets 2016 Bows for ‘12 Monkeys’ Season 2, TWD Boss’ ‘Hunters’
The Syfy programming slate has grown more and more ambitious of late, and 2016 is looking strong with some favorites, old and new. Not only has the network set a second season debut for its breakout 12 Monkeys adaptation, but so too do we know when Walking Dead producer Gale Ann Hurd will unleash a Hunters adaptation.
Per Syfy’s official announcements from the TCA press tour, the new series adapting Whitley Strieber novel Alien Hunter will arrive on Monday, April 11 at 10 P.M., with 12 Monkeys due to follow a week later. For those unfamiliar with Hunters, so reads the synopsis, with trailer below:
In HUNTERS, when Baltimore FBI agent Flynn Carroll’s (Nathan Phillips, “Wolf Creek”) wife goes missing, his search leads him to a highly-classified government organization – the Exo-Terrorism Unit (ETU) – who track and fight alien terrorists. Britne Oldford (“American Horror Story”) plays Regan, a valuable ETU operative keeping secrets of her own. The gritty sci-fi thriller also stars Julian McMahon (“Nip/Tuck”) as the dangerously unhinged terrorist, McCarthy.
Premiering the next week on April 18 at 9:00 P.M., so reads the 12 Monkeys Season 2 synopsis:
Syfy’s critically-acclaimed time-travel thriller 12 MONKEYS will return for a second season on Monday, April 18 at 9PM ET/PT. This all-new 13-episode season will air Mondays, with Aaron Stanford (James Cole), Amanda Schull (Dr. Cassandra Railly), Kirk Acevedo (Ramse), Emily Hampshire (Jennifer Goines), Barbara Sukowa (Katarina Jones) and Todd Stashwick (Deacon) reprising their roles.
12 MONKEYS follows the journey of Cole, a time traveler sent back in time from a dark, hellish future to prevent it from ever happening. Joining forces in the present with Dr. Railly, Cole must defeat a centuries-old malevolent organization known as the Army of the 12 Monkeys. As Cole, Railly and their unlikely allies get closer to the truth, they’ll learn there are deadly consequences for all of history … and time itself.
In the meantime, stay tuned for the latest on both Hunters and 12 Monkeys Season 2 in early April. Which should we most look forward to?
