'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' has already been thrown on a slab and dissected over and over again. Fans have approached each set photo, leaked or otherwise released by director Marc Webb himself, as potentially foreshadowing some shrouded event(s). Many have already suggested appearances by Venom and the Green Goblin, but now the latest rumor getting all the buzz is coming from one of the more recent casting additions, said to ultimately lead up to the big baddy (or baddies) coming in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3.'

A while ago, around the time Paul Giamatti's Rhino and Chris Cooper's Norman Osborn boarded the 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' cast, people were talking about an appearance from -- POTENTIAL SPOILER AHEAD -- the supervillain collective known as the Sinister Six. As soon as it came, the talk quickly died down, but now a scoop from Comic Book Movie suggests this might be the overarching plan for 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3' after all.

Colm Feore is one of the more recent additions to the cast, and, though info on his part was unreleased at the time, CBM says they can "100% confirm" him to be Adrian Toomes, or rather The Vulture. As a member of the original Sinister Six in the comics, he's said to help herald the arrival of the supervillain team for the next installment, which will also allegedly include Cooper's Green Goblin, Jaimie Foxx's Electro and Giamatti's Rhino. The other two members remain a mystery.

Doctor Octavius, played by Alfred Molina in Sam Raimi's 'Spider-Man 2,' is the founding member of the Sinister Six in the comics, which see him break out of prison and recruit Vulture, Kraven the Hunter, Electro, the illusionist Mysterio and Sandman. With Rhino and Goblin tapped in, however, this is looking more like the Sinister Six from the 'Ultimate Spider-Man' series (also considering Foxx's costume for the affair is more akin to that same rendering of Electro). Time will tell if this rumor holds any water, but Spidey fans will sure get a kick out of considering the implications.

'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' is currently in the midst of production and is set to hit theaters May 2, 2014.
