MY MAN!

My men (and men-ettes), we’re only six months away from an actual non-Entourage-joke Aquaman movie. James Wan, he of Furious 7 and The Conjuring, is directing a cast that includes Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, and Jason Momoa’s tattoos.

A new picture, via Entertainment Weekly, reveals a character called the “Fisherman King” who is played by Djimon Hounsou:

Here’s how EW describes what we’re looking at here.

In this scene, King Orm (Patrick Wilson, not shown) has gone to the Fisherman King (played by Djimon Hounsou, that guy with the trident) to enlist his help to declare war on the ocean-polluting surface world. There’s also the Fisherman Queen (Natalia Safran) and Princess (Sophia Forrest) on the left, and a royal guard on the right. Though you can’t tell in this shot, all of them have tails instead of legs.

My reaction? YEAYUHH!

Sounds like a classic Aquaman plot; Shakespearean political intrigue where various underwater monarchs fight for power and plot to destroy the surface world for polluting the oceans, with Aquaman (who is technically from both worlds) the only one standing between the two sides, trying to find a peaceful solution and also get in a sick workout because he hasn’t had a good chest day in a couple weeks.

Aquaman opens in theaters on December 21. The first trailer for the film is scheduled to premiere this month at San Diego Comic-Con.
