Arrow Season 3 has taken some unexpected swerves with its introduction of Batman baddie Ra’s al Ghul as a major villain, but could Season 4 be headed for an even bigger Bat-connection? A new report claims a mysterious “Damian” will tangle with Oliver Queen in Season 4, one who might just prove familiar to DC Comics fans…

Take this one with a quiver of salt for the moment, but TVLine claims that Arrow’s upcoming Season 3 finale will introduce a character being internally referred to as “Damian Dark,” described as a “major, formidable, fierce new foe for Oliver, [whose] reign of terror will continue well into Season 4.” The report goes onto postulate that the name might be a cover for Batman’s comic offspring Damian Wayne, though it seems exceptionally unlikely for a number of reasons.

For one, Arrow has historically maintained a loose relation ship with Batman lore, incorporating a few minor villains or alluding to future Wayne mergers (entirely independent of Gotham), but still keeping characters like Harley Quinn from appearing outright. Assuming Arrow even wanted to explicitly confirm the existence of a Batman in its TV universe (it won’t, at least yet), a prepubescent son of the Dark Knight would have a tough time offering a credible threat for the team, League of Assassins upbringing or no.

Instead, consider it far more likely that “Damian Dark” has something to do with DC villain “Damian Darhk,” a character frequently depicted as a member of evil organization H.I.V.E., and occasional opponent of the Teen Titans. Arrow has also previously referenced H.I.V.E. as an organization responsible for the death of Diggle’s brother Andy, though misadventures with Slade Wilson and Ra’s al Ghul have largely prevented Team Arrow from pulling the thread any further.

Granted, “Damian Dark” might also turn out to be a red herring altogether, as not all of Arrow’s production code names turn out to match their allusions. In the meantime, we’ve included the latest trailer for Arrow Season 3's next installment below, but who might this mysterious “Damian Dark” turn out to be in Season 4?
