A ‘Bob’s Burgers’ Movie Is Happening in 2020

We may never get another Simpsons Movie, but Bob’s Burgers is anything but sloppy seconds. The fan-favorite FOX animated series is officially taking the Belchers to the big screen, as Bob’s Burgers has ordered up a theatrical movie for 2020.

Hot off its most recent Emmy win for Outstanding Animated Series, Bob’s Burgers confirms that an as-yet-untitled film adaptation will hit theaters on July 17, 2020. It’s too early for any plot details, naturally, but here’s what series creator Loren Bouchard said of a Bob’s Burgers movie:

We’re thrilled to be invited to bring Bob’s Burgers to the big screen. We know the movie has to scratch every itch the fans of the show have ever had, but it also has to work for all the good people who’ve never seen the show. We also know it has to fill every inch of the screen with the colors and the sounds and the ever so slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob’s – but most of all it has to take our characters on an epic adventure. In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?!

Bob’s Burgers will presumably pull double-time to air new seasons and work on the movie simultaneously (exactly why The Simpsons hasn’t tried it since), but in the meantime, new episodes of Season 8 are currently airing Sundays.
