‘Californication’ Season 7: Michael Imperioli of ‘The Sopranos’ to Join
After wrapping up its sixth season this past Sunday with finale episode "I'll Lay My Monsters Down," Showtime's long-running dramedy 'Californication' has already begun putting together its seventh, and potentially final season. The latest from Hank Moody (David Duchovny)'s seventh season will see former 'The Sopranos' star Michael Imperioli taking on a major recurring role, but who will Christopher Imperioli be portraying in 'Californication's' future?
Showtime's long-running sex dramedy 'Californication' may not have had any 'Faith' in its proposed spinoff series, but season 7 of the David Duchovy-starring series is moving full steam ahead with a major premium cable player. Deadline reports that former 'The Sopranos' star and occasional 'Girls' guest Michael Imperioli will take a major recurring role in the upcoming seventh season, set to shoot later this month for a 2014 premiere.
Imperioli will take the role of successful old-school television producer Rick Rath, who plays a "key role" in Hank Moody's latest business venture. Imperioli's role is said to be "major," though no specific number of episodes has been set. The actor will also be seen in upcoming episodes of 'The Office's' final season, as well.
It remains to be seen if 'Californication' season 7 will prove the final outing for the series, given its earlier plans to develop a spinoff around Maggie Grace's groupie muse character, Faith.
Showtime even released a brief teaser for 'Californication' season 7, so check it out below and tell us if you think Michael Imperioli will fit in with Hank Moody's world in the comments!
