After the abysmal Call of Juarez: The Cartel, there didn't seem to be much life or interest in the franchise. Ubisoft and Techland revived the series as a downloadable game Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, taking the game back to its roots in the old West. The timing couldn't have been better.

As you can see in the trailer above, Gunslinger puts you in the shoes of a bounty hunter set to track down the likes of the Dalton Gang, Jesse James, and a whole host of outlaws from the frontier. Stylistically, it sure has a lot in common with Spaghetti Westerns, particularly those of the extremely violent variety.

There seems to be a focus on shooting people in the face, which is a sure way to make sure they end up in the pine box instead of you. With Silas' extra abilities, there should be little danger of you making it out of any firefight, regardless of how badly you're outnumbered. Add in some extra gameplay modes beyond the story, and you've got a game that could revive the legacy of series that was dead on arrival.
