The CW’s schedule is filling up with enough superheroes to fill a TV Justice League, and it may start to cost some new series. Both the prospective Charmed prequel and a seven-year Lost Boys reboot have been shelved until the next development cycle, and will be reworked in the meantime.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, The CW has only six pilots to order this season (one of which is now officially taken by DC’s Black Lightning), with neither Jane the Virgin producer Jennie Snyder Urman’s Charmed or iZombie boss Rob Thomas’ Lost Boys making the cut. The 1976-set Charmed draft apparently hadn’t come in so well as The CW hoped (Urman’s role also limited by Jane), while no specific reason for the anthology-esque Lost Boys’ delay was given.

The new Charmed series will be set in 1976 (with an unspecified connection to the original series), written by Jane the Virgin alum Jessica O’Toole, Amy Rardin and Jennie Snyder. The Lost Boys, meanwhile, sees iZombie creator Rob Thomas updating the 1987 Kiefer Sutherland horror comedy with the title immortals exploring a new decade each season:

It’s possible that interest in either supernatural property will have cooled by 2018 (or that The CW flat-out gives over to DC superheroes), but which might prove most worth exploring?
