Why I Watched It: Well, for one thing, Dark City is the single most requested title for this column since I started doing it back in late March. Plus, when this movie came out in 1998, I was about as big a fan on Earth as there was of Roger Ebert — and Ebert was about as big a fan on Earth as there was of Dark City. Despite his passionate defenses of this movie (it’s one of the six films Ebert recorded a DVD commentary for during his lifetime) I never found what he saw in it. It’s been a very long time since I revisited it, though; at least ten years. So I’m ready to try again...
