The Deadpool 2 marketing has been so much fun – and especially so compared to your average blockbuster promo campaign – I almost don’t want the movie to come out so it’ll never end. Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth has cosplayed Bob Ross for a playful teaser, he popped by Good Housekeeping for a cover shoot, he’s served Thanksgiving turkey to his cast of characters in the first poster for the sequel, and then he took inspiration from a little known painting on the Sistine Chapel ceiling for the second poster. His latest influence is a bit more modern.

Reynolds shared the latest poster for the upcoming sequel on Twitter on Tuesday. Taking a cues from Flashdance, Deadpool channels his inner Jennifer Beals as bullets rain down on him. Peep the original Flashdance tagline in Reynolds’ tweet.

We’ll have to wait another whole week for the full Deadpool 2 trailer, arriving on Valentine’s Day. Till then, feast your eyes on the official synopsis:

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

The sequel also stars Josh Brolin’s Cable, Zazie Beetz, Julian Dennison, Brianna Hildebrand, T.J. Miller, and Eddie Marsan. Deadpool 2 hits theaters May 18.
