'Doctor Who' has played host to a number of impressive guest stars over the years, increasingly moreso recognizable to the the show's international fanbase, and it seems Christmas has come early for loyal viewers. While the new season under Peter Capaldi continues each Saturday, the longrunning BBC sci-fi classic has added 'Shaun of the Dead' star and frequent Simon Pegg collaborator Nick Frost to its 2014 Christmas special, along with two others.

Per the BBC's official 'Doctor Who' Twitter account. Frost will guest alongside 'Misfits' star Nathan McMullen and Michael Troughton in the December 25 episode, though as usual, the BBC isn't revealing any details of the part just yet. Troughton meanwhile, is son to Patrick Troughton, portrayer of the second 'Doctor Who' incarnation in the 1960s.

Thus far, the newest season of 'Doctor Who' has included a special appearance from departed star Matt Smith, as well as Samuel Anderson in the role of mysterious new companion Danny Pink, Keeley Hawes as the villainous Ms. Delphox, Ben Miller, Hermione Norris, and 'Green Wing' actress Michelle Gomez as "The Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere."
