Will Ferrell's 'Elf' has long become a Christmas classic in its own right, but while NBC busies itself with live-action musicals of 'Peter Pan,' Buddy will have his own song to sing with a brand-new animated musical special 'Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas.' 'The Big Bang Theory''s Jim Parsons will lend his voice to the title role, but who else will be heard when NBC sings loud for all the world to hear?

According to Entertainment Weekly, the one-hour stop-motion animated special based on the film and Broadway musical will follow Buddy’s exploits as he travels to New York City in search of the father he never knew. Ed Asner will narrate, and presumably reprise the role of Santa from the film as well.

But that's certainly not all! The rest of the voice cast includes 'Star Wars' legend Mark Hamill, 'SNL' alum Fred Armisen, Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Gilbert Gottfried, Kate Micucci, 'American Dad''s Rachael MacFarlane, Max Charles, and Steve Higgins.

And while Will Ferrell only had so many chances to sing in the original film, 'Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas' will incorporate songs from the Broadway musical adaptation, including “Happy All the Time,” “A Christmas Song,” and “Nobody Cares About Santa Claus.” No date has specifically been set for the special, though the first photo has arrived above.

Tell us if you'll tune in for NBC's adaptation of 'Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas,' coming this December!
