If you were actually spending time with your families yesterday during the Thanksgiving holiday instead of watching football, chances are you didn’t see this new, 90-second TV spot for ‘Exodus: Gods and Kings.’ The latest extended peek at the film is battle-heavy, promising that Ridley Scott’s biblical epic intends to deliver on more than just a little brotherly melodrama.

The more peeks we get at ‘Exodus: Gods and Kings,’ the more interesting and engaging this film looks. What initially appeared to be yet another sweeping, costly, epic drama has grown to intrigue us with more and more action-packed trailers, each one sold with the intensity of Christian Bale’s Moses and Joel Edgerton’s Pharaoh Ramses battling in Egypt. This trailer features plenty of battle scenes, shots of hail raining from the sky, and lots of passionate shouting. Most of the shots in the trailer are darker, too, whereas previous trailers were brightly lit. This spot is really selling us on all the ferocity and aggression. In the film, Bale’s Moses defies the egomaniacal ruler in a quest to free some 600,000 slaves and lead them on a harrowing journey out of Egypt.

‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’ also stars Sigourney Weaver, Aaron Paul, and Ben Kingsley, and hits theaters on December 12.
