Warner Bros. recently screened 'Godzilla,' the Gareth Edwards-directed reboot of the Toho classic, for select members of the press (insert self-congratulatory back pat). Though the rest of the world still has to wait until the beast stomps into theaters on May 16, the studio released a hefty photo gallery of 29 images (including some behind-the-scenes moments) from the film, in addition to teasing some bits about the future of the franchise.

Though the film is indeed a Godzilla movie with its fair share of other monsters to cause some drama and destruction, Edwards has constantly praised the reboot's human element, driven in large part by principal stars Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen, all of whom take the spotlight in this gallery of 'Godzilla' photos. Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Juliette Binoche and David Strathairn also feature in the reboot, though fans will surely be on the lookout for the title star himself.

In addition, the screening in Hollywood concluded with a Q&A session (via Nerdist) with Edwards and 'Godzilla' producer Thomas Tull, who said in response to a question about including classic franchise monsters in future films, "We’re passionate fans of the universe and of Godzilla and those other monsters, so if this comes out and works well, we’ll go from there." Though, don't hold your breath at the moment, fans. "We have a bit of a rule. We can’t talk about anything else until this comes out and works. It’s a little superstition I have," he said, before finishing with, "I’m not even going to think about [sequels] until the movie comes out."

'Godzilla' hits theaters this May 16.
