Here’s the Super-Creepy Way ‘Gotham’ Will Age Up Poison Ivy
It wasn’t terribly surprising that Gotham decided to course-correct one of its more bizarre villain adaptations into a recognizable Poison Ivy for Season 3, but with the casting of Maggie Geha, things are about to get weird. Find out how li’l Ivy Pepper ends up a 19-year old woman with the full Gotham casting description!
Lest you think that Gotham might simply abandon the “Ivy Pepper” portrayed by young Claire Foley and spring for an older, comics-accurate Pamela Isley, the official series regular description from Ted 2 star Maggie Geha’s casting confirms that Ivy will undergo a dramatic, and significantly creepy transformation:
Following an encounter with a monster from Indian Hill, Ivy Pepper finds herself reborn, and one step closer to the DC villain she is destined to become: Poison Ivy. Now a 19-year-old woman who’s harnessed the full power of her charms, she sets her sights on Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).
Arguably, “Ivy Pepper” represented one of the show’s weaker adaptations dating as far back as the pilot, one Gotham never since found a place for. And sure, that Season 2 finale left the door open for some dramatic transformations to the villain landscape, but did we really need an adolescent character aged up into a seductress? Why not start from scratch with a different figure altogether?
Elsewhere, Season 3 will also introduce us to Gotham’s take on Batman villain Jervis Tetch, better known as the Mad Hatter, along with the Tweedle brothers, Jamie Chung’s Valerie Vale, the Court of Owls, Talon, and a more true-to-comics Solomon Grundy than Arrow offered. Lest we forget, a certain laughing madman made a distinctly audible return in the Season 2 finale, and will likely resurface as well.
We’ll learn more of Gotham Season 3 in the coming months, but what other Bat-characters might Gotham introduce in the next run?
