So much for our excitement over “Omar comin’ to a galaxy far, far away.” In yet another disappointing (though not exactly ruinous) development for the Han Solo movie, a new report reveals that Michael K. Williams’ role was cut from the untitled Star Wars spinoff amid reshoots under director Ron Howard. But as an iconic gangster once said, it’s all in the game.

Deadline reports that the former star of HBO’s The Wire has been cut from the untitled Han Solo Star Wars anthology film. Williams, who recently earned an Emmy nomination for his role in The Night Of, was unable to participate in reshoots for the Star Wars spinoff because Lucasfilm’s schedule conflicted with the actor’s part in The Red Sea Diving Resort. Production on the spy drama, which co-stars Chris Evans and Ben Kingsley, is currently underway in South Africa.

Little is known about the plot of the young Han Solo spinoff, but now that he’s been cut from the film, Williams has revealed that his role was part human, part animal. In a statement to Deadline, Williams said he was “proud” of the “kick-ass character” he created with former directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller:

I felt great about what I created with the directors that I worked with. It is what it is.

That almost sounds like a not-so-subtle dig at Ron Howard, who was brought in to replace Lord and Miller when the duo left the project over creative differences with Lucasfilm. But as Williams elaborates on the scheduling conflict, that doesn’t appear to be the case:

When Ron Howard got hired to finish out the film, there were some reshoot issues that needed to be done in regards to my character, in order for it to match the new direction which the producers wanted Ron to carry the film in. And that would have required me on a plane a month ago to London, to Pinewood, to do reshoots. But I’m here, on location in Africa. It’s scheduling. I’m not going to be back on the market until the end of November after [his SundanceTV series] Hap and Leonard, and for them to wait that long for me, that would have pushed back the release date, which I believe is in May 2018. They wanted me now; I couldn’t go. So they had to clip-clip-clip.

So if you were feeling thirsty for more Han Solo drama, you won’t find it here. It’s just your typical, boring work scheduling conflicts. Happens to the best of us — Omar Little included. And if, like me, you’re particularly bummed that we won’t be seeing Michael K. Williams in a Star War, the actor seems optimistic about his chances of returning to the universe should the opportunity arise:

I left with a very good taste in my mouth about the whole family, and I hope that I left a good taste in their mouth. They’re a great group of people, the Lucas family.

The untitled Han Solo spinoff hits theaters on May 25, 2018.
