This Jack Ryan movie keeps moving forward, and now that it's filled the major pieces of casting, it just got a release date of December 25, 2013. So families tired of the holiday can sneak out and watch Chris Pine kill some Russians.

We know that Kenneth Branagh will be directing and co-starring in the film as its villain, and it looks like Pine and Brannagh will be joined by Keira Knightley and Kevin Costner, with Costner also signed on to help launch a spin-off franchise as well. The film will be set in Russia, and it apparently won't be based on any of the previous Tom Clancy Jack Ryan books.

Currently the film will be up against 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,' which stars Ben Stiller, and '47 Ronin,' starring Keanu Reeves. The latter was delayed by reshoots, and if it isn't the event film that was hoped for it's possible the film will be pushed back to 2014 - though that's idle specualtion. The main competition will be 'The Hobbit: There and Back Again' which opens December 10, 2013. But with more than a year and change until release, it's hard to say if any of these dates will stay the same, or if 'The Hobbit' will prove to be a juggernaut.
