‘Jane Got a Gun’ Reveals First Look at Natalie Portman in the Long-Delayed Western
It’s been quite a bumpy road through the production of ‘Jane Got a Gun,’ the upcoming and consistently-delayed new Western starring Natalie Portman and Joel Edgerton. First, the film lost a director, endured lawsuits, exchanged Michael Fassbender for Ewan McGregor, and pushed its release date back a few times. But today brings our first look at Portman and Edgerton in the film, which is probably a good sign.
The below images were released on the Unanimous Entertainment website (via The Playlist), and feature Portman’s Jane along with Edgerton, who plays Jane’s ex-lover. ‘Jane Got a Gun’ stars Portman as a woman who enlists the help of a former beau when her outlaw husband gets in over his head with a violent gang. And judging by one of the photos, Jane does indeed get herself a gun.
‘Jane Got a Gun’ was previously set to be directed by ‘We Need to Talk About Kevin’ helmer Lynne Ramsay, who was replaced by ‘Warrior’ director Gavin O’Connor following a falling out between Ramsay and the studio. Michael Fassbender exited the film shortly after and was replaced by Ewan McGregor, who will now play the main antagonist in the film.
The movie was set to be released late last summer, but was pushed back to February 2015 before it was eventually delayed once more. ‘Jane Got a Gun’ also stars Noah Emmerich, Rodrigo Santoro, and Boyd Holbrook, and will now hit theaters on September 4.
