The first trailer for Keeping Up With the Joneses hits some predictable comedic beats, but with a cast that includes Zach Galifianakis, Jon Hamm, Isla Fisher and Gal Gadot, how can this one not go on your must-see list? Directed by Greg Mottola (Superbad), the new action comedy pits one of the world’s funniest men against one of the handsomest in a film that looks like a throwback to stuff like Stakeout — remember Stakeout? You had cable in the ’90s, right?

Galfianakis and Fisher play a ho-hum married couple who become obsessed with their impossibly attractive and cool new neighbors (hence the title), played by Hamm and Gadot. As it turns out, these two are a bit more than they seem — and spying on them injects a little excitement into the tedious lives of Galfianakis and Fisher, sort of like the Tina Fey and Steve Carell comedy Date Night.

Sure, it’s familiar narrative territory, but (again) it’s a great cast: Galfianakis is always delightful and Hamm has proven his surprisingly strong comedic chops in stuff like Bridesmaids and Children’s Hospital. It’s also pretty exciting to see Isla Fisher back on the big screen (she hasn’t been around much as of late), and Gal Gadot combining her action prowess with comedy.

So maybe the trailer isn’t fantastic, but Keeping Up With the Joneses has more than enough awesome talent to pique our interest. The film also stars Patton Oswalt and Veep’s Matt Walsh, and hits theaters on October 21.
