When you've got Brad Pitt as the lead in your movie, it's surprising when you don't sell the movie just on having one of the world's biggest movie stars in your film. So kudos to Andrew Dominik's 'Killing Them Softly' for not relying on Pitt's star wattage for their first poster. Check it out...

This looks more like a Polish poster for 'Dirty Harry' than the standard mix of head shots and bad photoshop. Indeed, in an era where Mondo is likely to do a better poster than Hollywood, it's nice to see some artwork that is both vague and compelling. We get what the film is about, and it sets a tone. The American flag on the glasses is a nice touch.

Though the film won't be hitting theaters stateside until September 21, it will be playing the Cannes film festival shortly, and the buzz will be building from there. There's a clip from it that we've already posted, and it's likely we will be getting an official trailer in the next couple weeks. And if you're like us and love 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the the Coward Robert Ford' then you're pretty pumped for this one.
