One reason I'll survive the conclusion of 'Legend of Korra' — and there were doubts as the final season set in this past week — is the show's immortal design work. Like other genre property pillars, the world of Avatar has a visual panache lending itself to reinterpretation. As artists, creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino are open to their creation's flexibility; Between fan art and commissioned works, there are hundreds of 'Korras' out there. And now, courtesy of Nickelodeon, we have one of the most stunning variations yet.

Above, ScreenCrush exclusively premieres brand-new 'Legend of Korra' themed art by world-renowned comic book artist Geof Darrow, best known for his illustration work on 'Hard Boiled,' 'The Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot' and 'Shoalin Cowboy.' The Book 4: Balance-inspired piece, depicting Korra and Naga entering a bustling, agrarian town, recasts the Avatar in Darrow's classic style, with coloring by eight-time Eisner Award winning colorist Dave Stewart ('Shaolin Cowboy,' 'Sandman' and 'Hellboy').

Nickelodeon will be raffling five limited edition, signed prints at New York Comic Con and 350 large format signed prints will be sold exclusively on Nick Shop later in October.

"Geof Darrow's work made a big impact on me as an art student, so I was honored to learn a few years ago that he is a fan of Korra and even more so when he expressed an interest in creating a special print for the show," Konietzko said in a statement accompanying the piece. "We are all blown away by his unique interpretation of the Avatarverse, and we're excited to share it with the fans at New York Comic Con."

Along with the artwork, ScreenCrush is also happy to premiere the official New York Comic Con 'Legend of Korra' poster featuring Korra and Kuvira, whose exploits I'll be recapping weekly here on the site.
