NBC DC Comedy ‘Powerless’ Pulled From Schedule, Possibly Canceled
DC may have beaten Marvel to the punch with its first TV comedy, but Powerless might just lose the battle. The NBC comedy has been pulled from the schedule with only a few episodes left in Season 1, likely signaling a cancellation.
Even as Season 1 of the Vanessa Hudgens-Danny Pudi-Alan Tudyk comedy has only two episodes left in its initial order, NBC quietly declined to schedule said episodes in the next two weeks. That’s not an official cancellation from the network, but executive producer Patrick Schumacker certainly sees some writing on the wall:
Intriguingly, one of the unscheduled episodes features Batman himself, or at least ‘60s TV Batman Adam West, playing the role of a higher-up at Wayne Security. Having been heavily revamped from its concept as an insurance comedy, Powerless’ full synopsis reads:
In a world where humanity must cope with the collateral damage of Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer. Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her expectations far exceed those of her new boss (Alan Tudyk) and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realization that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero.
It’s entirely possible NBC will schedule the remaining two episodes for a later date, or at least make them available online, but stay tuned for word of Powerless’ fate.
