NBC decided long ago that we’d meet Taken lead Bryan Mills before he developed his particular set of skills (yet somehow still in the modern day), and ahead of NBC’s Upfront presentation, we have our first look at Vikings star Clive Standen in the role Lian Meeson made famous.

The network released its first official photos of the new Taken series, given a straight-to-series order following a young, unmarried Bryan Mills developing the abilities that featured into the original 2008 movie, and its two subsequent sequels. At this point in his life, Bryan is recruited to be a black ops agent for the elite “Emergency Covert Action Team.”

Also starring in the series are Jennifer Beals, Gaius Charles, Monique Gabriela Curnen, James Landry Hebert, Michael Irby, Brooklyn Sudano, Jose Pablo Cantillo and Simu Liu.

Homeland alum Alexander Cary wrote the pilot script and executive produces the new drama, behind original film director Luc Besson, as well as Matthew Gross, Edouard de Vesinne and Thomas Anargyros. Game of Thrones and Homeland director Alex Graves helmed the pilot episode.

We’ll expect a trailer in the coming weeks, but is our new Taken worth at least a threatening phone conversation?
