Though 'New Girl' season 2 seems to have done everything it can to dance around the potential coupling of Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) since their much-talked about kiss earlier in the season, the show is set to throw a familiar obstacle in their path. New reports suggest that 'Enlightened' guest star Dermot Mulroney will return to the fray into an upcoming episode, having not been seen in his "Fancyman" character since season 1. Get the latest on 'New Girl' inside!

'New Girl' seems to have brought the guest stars out of the woodwork this season, most recently featuring 'Shameless' star Steve Howey and soon to feature 'Justified' Emmy-winner and 'The Americans' star Margo Martindale, and comedians Nick Kroll and Bill Burr, but its latest guest star will feel a bit familiar. E! reports that Dermot Mulroney will return to the series in an upcoming April episode, reprising the role of Jess' ex-boyfriend Russell, the "Fancyman."

Adding to the ever-expanding obstacles between the inevitable Nick/Jess pairing, the character will return at "a most inopportune time" for an episode titled "First Date." Might that imply that Nick and Jess agree to a real date, only to encounter one of Jess' exes?

What say you? Are you excited to have a familiar face back on 'New Girl'? How have you been enjoying the second season?
