Jurassic World 3 will have at least one thing going for it that neither of the previous films in the franchise had: The return of all three top stars from the very first Jurassic Park, directed by Steven Spielberg.

That’s the word from Deadline, who confirm that Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern, will all appear in the third Jurassic World:

Dern moments ago revealed her participation in the film, as well as Neill’s and Goldblum’s returns, at a fan screening tonight of Battle at Big Rock, an eight-minute short film that Trevorrow directed and showed tonight, featuring dinosaurs running amuck after they’ve escaped to the real world. The last Jurassic World, directed by J.A. Bayona, ended with the revived beasts finding their way off the island and into civilization, so it might well be where the next installment of the film goes.

Jeff Goldblum did have a cameo in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, but it amounted to little more than giving a brief speech to a government hearing. Neill and Dern last appeared in the franchise in Jurassic Park III in 2001, where Neill’s Alan Grant was the main character and Dern’s Ellie Satler had a small supporting role (where it was revealed they had broken up, sob).

Given the reverence with which people hold the first Jurassic Park, this would be a major coup for the film, which has mostly stuck to new characters so far (although B.D. Wong’s Dr. Wu has popped up in both Jurassic Worlds). Jurassic World 3 is set to open in theaters on June 11, 2021.
