It’s (Morphin) Time for Some ‘Power Rangers’ Movie Secrets
If you’ve seen Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, you definitely remember the alien warrior Dulcea. But did you know that Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay was cast in the role at one point, and even filmed several scenes for the movie? Eventually, producers decided she wasn’t right for the part and replaced her. That’s just one of the mighty facts featured in the newest episode of You Think You Know Movies!
The first Power Rangers movie was also a notable first for the entire franchise: It was the first time that blood was seen onscreen. To play the film’s villain, Ivan Ooze, actor Paul Freeman spent seven hours each day in the makeup chair. He was so committed to his role, in fact, that he constantly drank black currant juice to dye his tongue purple to match the rest of his outlandish prosthetics and costume. That is some serious dedication to playing the part of a guy named “Ivan Ooze.”
