Want to Play a Game? Test Your ‘Saw’ Knowledge With These 10 Facts
Billy the Puppet has become one of the most recognizable faces in modern horror. But, he’s actually just made up of some scraps that were lying around. Director James Wan made the original Billy puppet himself using papier-mâché, ping-pong balls for eyes and cardboard paper towel tubes for the body. That’s just one of the facts packed into the latest episode of You Think You Know Movies, which looks at the games of Jigsaw with Saw!
The first Saw movie was originally budgeted at just $30,000. Wan quickly realized he would need more money so he and writer Leigh Whannell filmed a 5-minute short based on the reverse bear trap to show investors. The film itself wound up costing just over $1 million and went on to make over $100 million at the box office. There have been seven Saw films in total, which have gone on to make $873 million worldwide. Not bad for an indie horror movie.
