Showtime’s ‘Masters of Sex': ‘Bridesmaids’ Wendi McLendon-Covey to Recur
While Showtime has given us the early gift of presenting 'Dexter's eighth (and potentially final) season in June rather than September, we're still excited to check out its sexy new period drama 'Masters of Sex' when it premieres in September in 'Dexter's old spot. And while 'Masters of Sex' boasted an impressive cast already, we've learned that 'Reno 911!' and 'Bridesmaids' star Wendi McLendon-Covey has joined the cast in a recurring role! Find out how much you'll be seeing of Wendi McLendon-Covey on 'Masters of Sex' inside!
We're a ways off from checking out Showtime's hotly-anticipated premiere of 'Masters of Sex,' but the buzz has grown even bigger with the recent addition of 'Bridesmaids' star and sometime 'Modern Family' guest Wendi McLendon-Covey. Deadline reports that McLendon-Covey will take the role of Dr. Lillian DePaul, a formidable new doctor at the hospital and the first female joining the typically all-boys club, providing both a competitor and mentor to Lizzie Caplan's character.
Starring Michael Sheen (‘Twilight‘) and Lizzy Caplan (‘Party Down’), ‘Masters of Sex’ follows famous real-life 1960s human sexuality research pioneers William Masters and Virginia Johnson following the duo’s unconventional lives moving from a St. Louis teaching hospital to Johnny Carson and the cover of Time Magazine. The series is adapted from Thomas Maier’s book ‘Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, The Couple Who Taught America How To Love.’
Covey's role on the series will only go as far as recurring, given her pending commitment to upcoming ABC comedy pilot 'How the Hell Am I Normal?'
