Okay, who had Adele in the James Bond 'Skyfall' theme song betting pool? Anyone? Oh wait, everyone? Well you're all right. Looks like the soulful British singer is indeed next in line to carry on the grand tradition of performing artists lending their vocal talents to the theme songs of James Bond films.

Following the pairing of Jack White and Alicia Keys for 2008's 'Quantum of Solace' and the myriad of other performers who have lent their original songs to Bond films over the years, including Garbage, Shirley Bassey, and Carly Simon, Adele has been officially chosen to provide the theme for the upcoming film 'Skyfall.'

Showbiz 411 reports that Adele will be writing the song herself in addition to singing it, which means we can probably expect a really sad breakup song about how James Bond used her heart like a punching bag and never even looked her in the eyes when she was crying, or something.

With the film heading to theaters in the UK in less than two months, Adele better get cracking.

'Skyfall' follows James Bond (Daniel Craig) as his loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is put to the ultimate test -- M's enigmatic past is revealed and comes back to haunt her, and 007 is the only man who can sort it all out. With suits. And guns. And martinis. The film hits theaters in the US on November 9.
