No 'Supergirl'-'Flash' Crossover This Season, Says Producer

However dim hope seemed in the first place, fans of both Supergirl and The Flash perked up at news that Warner Bros. had a month or so to work out a potential multi-network crossover for its DC heroes this season. Sadly, that ship seems to have sailed, according to mutual executive producer Andrew Kreisberg.

Where previously DC TV magnate Greg Berlanti had spoken of at least some internal conversations toward a crossover of the CW and CBS heroes, Entertainment Weekly’s newest interview with fellow Flash (and Supergirl) producer Andrew Kreisberg doesn’t quite live in the same ambiguity:

Any word on a potential crossover with Supergirl?
No. We’re making Flash, and we’re making Supergirl.

Ouch. Earlier in January, Berlanti had offered:

I would love it, a lot of things would have to go right and people would have to say ‘Yes.’ It would have to figured out very soon. It would all have to be figured out in the next month or so. As it remains right now we’ve talked internally about how cool it would be, but we haven’t had official conversations. [The CW chief Mark Pedowitz] is supportive.

Prior to that, Kreisberg even questioned the legality of any such crossover, including among the looser Legends of Tomorrow. Should a crossover ever actually occur, it might make more sense for The Flash to drop by Supergirl, given the former’s exploration of parallel Earths, and the latter’s establishment of Superman as its realm’s only major hero.

There’s always next season, but are both Supergirl and The Flash better served keeping separate for now?
