‘Supernatural’ Preview Photos: Meet Grandpa Winchester “As Time Goes By!”

It's a good thing last night's 2013 'Supernatural' premiere "Torn and Frayed" managed to bring the Winchester boys back together from their squabbling, as they're going to need one another in the coming weeks. We've already shown you preview photos from next week's role play-heavy "LARP and the Real Girl,' featuring Felicia Day's return, but what happens when Sam and Dean come face to face with their paternal grandfather Henry Winchest (Gil McKinney)? Get the latest 'Supernatural' scoop on "As Time Goes By" inside!

'Supernatural' has introduced fans to plenty of Winchester family members in the past, but January 30 episode "As Time Goes By" will see the first appearance of Sam and Dean's paternal grandfather Henry, who travels through time itself to seek his descendant's aid. The CW has released the first photos from the episode, featuring ‘ER’ and ‘Friday Night Lights‘ Gil McKinney as Henry, for an hour that sees the man teaming up with Sam and Dean to protect his young son from a 1958 demon cult.

Series star Jensen Ackles previously said of the episode and character, "this is a [man] we knew nothing about, because he was never involved in our lives or the lives of people that were involved directly with us. It’s kind of getting some insight into the life and the legacy of the Winchesters, which is something that we as characters never really knew."
