We've been wondering what The CW might plan for 'Supernatural' going into its tenth season, and whether all the recent spinoff attempts might signal an imminent end to the main series, as it seems that Sam and Dean may indeed look to sum things up. The CW's flagship 'Supernatural' horror story has commissioned a series retrospective to precede the season 10 premiere, while Jensen Ackles will once again get in the director's chair.

Where yesterday The CW revealed that 'Supernatural' would premiere its tenth season on October 7 after the series premiere of 'Arrow' spinoff 'The Flash,' we've also learned that October 6 will see the long-running series airing a nine-season retrospective at 9:00 P.M., immediately following the sixth season premiere of 'The Vampire Diaries.'

As if that weren't good enough news for fans, 'Supernatural' season 10 will also see Jensen Ackles once again dipping behind the camera direct yet another episode, to air as the third installment of the season for production purposes.

Thus far, we know of 'Supernatural' season 10 that longtime series star Mark Sheppard will finally ascend the ranks of series regular, understandable given the events that befell Dean during the course of season 9 finale "Do You Believe in Miracles?" Misha Collins will once again return as series regular, while the CW has also committed to developing another spinoff to replace the failed ‘Bloodlines.'

We can't help but think of the upcoming 'Supernatural' retrospective as a sign that Sam and Dean will eventually hang up their hunter cards, if not in season 10, than perhaps the next, but what say you? Are you looking forward to the Winchesters' next adventures, even if they prove the last? We'll be on hand for the latest from Comic-Con 2014, but tell us what you want to see from 'Supernatural' season 10 in the comments!
