Amazingly, The CW isn't all shirtless men and Olympic guest stars, but rather soon it will play host to the most terrible villain of them all, Dr. Horrible! It's amazing to think that Joss Whedon's Writer's Strike time-killer franchise musical 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog' has grown so far beyond its three, 15-minute installments and will soon take over TV when The CW hosts the good doctor on October 9. But, will 'Dr. Horrible's' TV success make any headway with the long-awaited sequel? What does The CW's first promo reveal?

Longtime fans of Joss Whedon's experimental star-filled musical web series were overjoyed to learn that The CW would mark the first TV appearance of the acclaimed special, for which Entertainment Weekly has the first promo. Certainly, any network should see 'Dr. Horrible' as a big get considering the ever-increasing prominence of 'How I Met Your Mother's' Neil Patrick Harris, 'The Big Bang Theory's' Simon Helberg, 'Castle's' Nathan Fillion and 'The Guild's' Felicia Day.

While the new promo highlights the stars, what's the word on the eventual sequel? We've been hearing for months that 'Dr. Horrible 2' could film this year, but recent chat with series creator and 'The Avengers' director Joss Whedon indicated something of a stall. Talking to Zap2It, Whedon said: "Dr. Horrible 2" is still on the slate. [His other commitments] mean we're going to have to stay up a little bit later to get it written, but that is what we will do."

Sounds like 'Dr. Horrible' could see a "Brand New Day" as soon as next year, but in the meantime check out the promo and be sure to tune in Tuesday, October 9 at 9:00 p.m. on The CW!
