‘The Flash’ Gets Friend Zoned in New Clip Introducing Iris West
We've still a ways to go before 'Arrow' officially spins 'The Flash' off into his own CW series this fall, but in the meantime, we're getting to know a good deal of the supporting players populating Central City. Following the S.T.A.R. Labs team and Barry himself, meet Candice Batton's take on DC galpal Iris West, as Barry (Grant Gustin) gets banished to the phantom friend zone.
Admittedly a curious choice of words to promote any potential love interest between the pair, the CW's latest 'Flash' featurette highlights the near-familial relationship between Barry and Iris, as the West family took Barry in after a mysterious childhood incident claimed the life of Barry's mother and put his father Henry in jail for the crime. Barry clearly has more romantic designs on their relationship, though Iris doesn't seem to return the affection, at least consciously, for now.
Greenlit for (at least) 13 episodes, ‘The Flash’ also boasts among its cast Tom Cavanaugh's Dr. Harrison Wells, Danielle Panabaker’s Caitlin Snow and Carlos Valdes’ Cisco Ramon, Jesse L. Martin’s Detective West, ‘The Vampire Diaries‘ star Rick Cosnett as Central City Police transfer Detective Eddie Thawne, and original ‘Flash’ star John Wesley Shipp as Barry’s father Henry Allen.
We're hoping 'The Flash' finds a less questionable groove for the two stencil-struck DC lovebirds, but in the meantime, check out the latest featurette on Iris West above, and tell us what you want to see when 'The Flash' races onto screens this fall!
