Though Legos have been around for decades, the building block sets have apparently never been more popular. There have been countless video games based on the more popular licensed playsets, and next year will see the release of The Lego Movie in theaters. TT Games is obviously excited, as the frequent Lego game developer has just announced a video game based on the film will also arrive next year.

In The Lego Movie Video Game, players will take on the role of Emmett, the very ordinary Lego citizen accidentally anointed as the most extraordinary person in the world, and thus put in charge of saving the Lego universe. TLMVG will be available on PC, Wii U, 3DS, PS Vita, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and will also mark the first time a Lego game will be available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

There aren't many details beyond the most basic story points, but there are a few screenshots of the upcoming action adventure game to tide you over until TT Games has more to share.
