John Hillcoat is the director behind The Road and Lawless, which makes Triple 9 an instant must-see. Originally conceived as a starring vehicle for Lawless star Shia LaBeoufTriple 9 was put on the back burner for a few years before Hillcoat got back to work on it, replacing LaBeouf with Casey Affleck for this nasty little crime thriller. The first trailer has arrived, and as the red band warning promises, things get very, very brutal.

The red band trailer for Triple 9 features some intense, violent moments (like decapitated heads lined up on a cop car) set to a child reciting the “This Little Piggy” rhyme, making it all the more unsettling — but there are some great shots throughout, including one of a character whipping their head to face the camera while wearing a wolf mask. It’s the kind of stuff that makes you want to know the hows and the whys, but you’ll have to wait until February for those answers.

Triple 9 features an incredible lineup, including Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anthony Mackie, Kate Winslet, Aaron Paul, Gal Gadot, Norman Reedus, Teresa Palmer and Clifton Collins Jr.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

In Triple 9, a crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist and the only way to pull it off is to manufacture a 999, police code for “officer down.” Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck action-packed finale tangled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.

Triple 9 hits theaters on February 19, 2016.
