Two Assassin’s Creed Games Reportedly Coming in 2014
Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed series is already on a yearly cycle, but there's a new report hinting the publisher may double dip on the popular franchise in 2014.
According to sources speaking with the Examiner, Ubisoft is developing not one but two distinct Assassin's Creed titles. One will be specifically for current generation consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, while the other will be for next-gen systems the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Now, this wouldn't be the first time Ubi put out multiple Assassin's Creed games in the same year, but it would be the first they did it for consoles. The PSP and PS Vita each had Assassin's Creed entries the same year console versions released, but since the series has been around, there hasn't been two different eras of home consoles around. It would certainly be a bold move, but as the narrative for the series is so tightly constructed, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for Ubi to follow this supposed plan.
Still, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag was the most well-received entry since Brotherhood, which may have the publisher eager to capitalize on the regained success and momentum. Of course, until Ubisoft actually reveals its intentions officially, don't get your hopes up too high.
