More than fast cars or fistfights or crime-committing while crime-fighting, the Fast and Furious movies are about one thing: family. And family, as we all know, means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. Vin Diesel really wants to make sure we don’t forget about the late Paul Walker’s character Brian O’Connor, because apparently he wants to find some way to bring him back.

Wait. Wait. What?

Paul Walker’s death was a tragic curveball thrown right into the middle of Furious 7, causing the director to have to change the script around and re-shoot some scenes in order to finish the movie. Walker had brothers who could act as stand-ins, so for some final scenes he wasn’t present for they just layered over his face onto his brother’s body in post. We saw Brian and Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto ride in tandem on a winding road, before they came to a fork and Dom went one way and Brian went the other. According to Walker’s brothers Caleb and Cody, who spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the charity they created in Paul’s name, Vin Diesel kinda might want to bring Brian O’Connor back in some capacity.

“I had a phone call with Vin for about an hour and we really discussed this a while back. He wanted [our] blessing,” Caleb said, adding that Diesel asked if and when they thought it “would be acceptable to maybe bring Paul’s character back… to really kind of let his fans know he’s still out there.”

“Universal wants to make sure to be respectful of Paul and his image too, and his family,” Cody added.

“Still out there” could mean a lot of things: maybe they’ll have a Paul Walker stand-in for a short scene, showing what he’s been up to since he drove off into the sunset. But, with a send-off as emotional and final as the last few scenes of Furious 7 (it’s okay, we know you cried at a Wiz Khalifa song, we did too) it seems odd that anyone involved in the franchise would feel the need to bring his character right back.
